Celebs & CEOs are likely to beat the rap in college fraud.

Celebs & CEOs are likely to beat the rap

As  someone who got into Yale the hard, old-fashioned way, the fact that celebs & CEOs are likely to beat the rap for bribing colleges outrages me. I've blogged about bias and discrimination in favor  celebs and other elites before. Most recently, here and here. The defendants are a "catalogue of wealth and privilege,” U.S. Attorney Andrew Lelling  said during his press conference announcing charges. Most importantly, he also said,  "There can be no separate college-admissions system … [Read more...]

Most privileged celeb of all – Mirror, mirror on the wall? A Scorecard

January 7, 2019 By Karl Leave a Comment

Most privileged?

Which of these most privileged celebs are you following to see if justice is done—Ryan Seacrest, James Franco, Gerard Depardieu, Aziz Ansari, Dustin Hoffman, Asia Argento, or Sylvester Stallone? They're among the over 250 people accused of sexually inappropriate behavior since #MeToo started. Who will be the most privileged of all as 2019 moves forward? Thanks to mighty help from Vox, a trendy-left-leaning ezine, I can provide you a scorecard. Use the    background info and basics Vox … [Read more...]

Scary NFLer—victim of bullying, discrimination, or mental illness?

March 10, 2018 By Karl Leave a Comment

I'm disturbed and saddened that discrimination and/or mental illness has taken a serious toll on a bullying victim I've featured in prior posts.    Ex-NFLer Jonathan Martin graduated from Harvard-Westlake prep school in L.A. and then Stanford. He joined the Miami Dolphins in 2012. But during his 2nd year with Miami, he became the center of a scandal involving harassment and bullying on the part of his teammates Richie Incognito and Mike Pouncey.   Hero, villain, or fool?  Things … [Read more...]

Peyton Manning: Special treatment re sex scandal?

September 23, 2017 By Karl Leave a Comment

3/4 shots of Manning w football juxtaposed with & Naughright in black dress. Preferential treatment?

Today's blog begins to transition from the main prior focus of the website (clefts, disabled heroes, etc.). It embraces a newly added focus, loosely called 'discrimination' which includes special treatment of males, superstars, etc. by society. This blog features a compelling combination of both the former focus and the current focus of my website. The key phrase is "Peyton Manning cleft palate special treatment." Peyton Manning cleft palate special treatment. A little known fact about Peyton … [Read more...]

Will OJ get parole tomorrow? Where and how to watch his hearing.

July 17, 2017 By Karl 1 Comment

Fuhrman covers OJ parole hearing.

I mentioned in a prior blog that the ALCATRAZ EAST crime museum just opened an exhibit around a new acquisition. The item is the White Ford Bronco that carried a frantic and suicidal O.J. Simpson during one of the most famous televised car chases ever. For this reason alone, millions will be tuned in tomorrow to O.J.'s parole hearing. But, as you know, there are many other reasons to tune in.   I'm going to watch because, tho I'm a dispassionate criminologist regarding most topics, I have a … [Read more...]

Brock Turner, Oscar Pistorius: how white privilege works.

June 11, 2017 By Karl Leave a Comment

Booking shot of fair 20-ish Brock Turner.in white hoodie.

I sometimes examine white privilege in my crim justice writings, and I'm doing so in a memoir I'm currently working on.  What's interesting about Brock Turner, Oscar Pistorius is that they may've been given light sentences because they were white and outstanding athletes. They are athletes in cultures (America and South Africa) where athleticism is prized. In such cultures super athletes, for sure, are treated leniently by their justice systems because of it. I've written about Pistorius … [Read more...]

Oscar Pistorius’sentencing suggests he’s a psychopath.

October 26, 2014 By Karl Leave a Comment

Finally, the other shoe has dropped. And the judge has answered our question . . . sort of. The question asked several Pistorius blogs ago was, does Oscar have psychopathic tendencies like Lance Armstrong and OJ Simpson? Because I felt I knew less about Oscar than Lance and OJ and because a different culture and criminal justice system was at work, I decided to let the judge determine Oscar's mental state. Psychopath? By sentencing Oscar to five years—much less than the ten years she might … [Read more...]

Thoughts about “Clarice,” spinoff from “The Silence of the Lambs.”

I managed to catch the  2nd episode of the "Clarice" series recently. It channeled the Waco cult situation, also known as  the Waco, Texas massacre.  That was the controversial law enforcement siege of a compound that belonged to the Branch Davidian religious cult. In the 2nd  episode,  Clarice … [Read More...]

Popular Culture and True Crime – Tutorial III – Why women are such true crime fans.

Popular Culture and True Crime – Tutorial II – Murderabilia.

Popular Culture and True Crime – Tutorial I – Serial Killer trading cards?

About the same time that Michael Aamodt, a professor at Radford University in Virginia, started cataloguing serial killers, trading cards popped up.
