GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump won a place in the crowded facial discrimination Hall of Shame last week. In a recent Rolling Stone article, he criticized fellow candidate Carly Fiorina's looks as he argued why she could never be president. "Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that?" Trump told the magazine. "Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!"Facial discrimination.Fiorina fought her way onto the prime time stage of the 2nd debate with a stellar performance in … [Read more...]
Announcing the Launch of an art gallery.
World premiere. It's opening night (or day, depending on your time zone ) for a new art gallery.Kinda exciting. After hoping to do something like this for years, the stars aligned and a gallery for paintings and prints materialized.Click here for the gallery. I trust the crowds at the opening aren't overwhelming. Probably won't be because there aren't free cheese, crackers, and wine. Back in the day, I used to almost subsist on gallery openings and their food in New York City.If paintings or … [Read more...]
King Tut cont’d. Plus, was (step) mom Nefertiti photoshopped?
A little backstory before we address the question raised in the last blog (why King Tut was born with a cleft and a clubfoot?) and the question of photoshopping Nefertiti, playing fast and loose with her looks. I Luxored out and got to see Tut's Treasures.I liked King Tut before I learned he shared a cleft and other birth defects with me. I guess it was all that gold leaf associated with his funeral mask, and buried art treasures found in his tomb. Can't remember why I missed Tut's first visit … [Read more...]
TV series makes cleft palate king a warrior. Fail!
The recent Spike miniseries, "Tut," takes considerable liberties with the science and limited knowledge we have of the Boy King. We know very little for sure about Tut. Here's what we do know:King Tutankhamun was born in 1341 B.C. and died in 1323 B.C. An Egyptian pharaoh from the 18th Dynasty, you can see from the dates Tut died young. He reigned for approximately nine years and was known during his reign for rejecting the religious changes instituted by Akhenaten, the pharaoh before him. … [Read more...]
Heroines, bullies, and Batgirl’s final bow as a hero.
As I noted earlier in the week on various social media, Batgirl, whose face graces my "Heroes, Villains, and Fools" home page, has died. Ms Craig was a heroine to the kids of prior generations who were unused to superheroes at every turn. Superheroes could mainly be found in comic books. Among other villains, Craig fought bullies.Craig was trained as a dancer, which helped her perform her own stunts as Batgirl in the iconic 1960s TV series "Batman." Craig died at her home in Pacific Palisades, … [Read more...]
What if your favorite celeb had a cleft lip?
Almost three weeks ago I pointed out that Angelina Jolie happens to have a “slightly asymmetrical chin.” A trait she shares, incidentally, with almost every other person in the world. However, as they say, "you ain't seen nothin' yet." I just found this image of Angelina among hundreds of others which show her face and body in creative ways most of us couldn't even imagine. I'm not quite sure why the artist gave poor Angie a black eye and a bloodshot eye as well as an abrasion or two. Maybe she … [Read more...]
NFL’s Martin will always be linked with Incognito’s bullying.
An injury ends my string of blogs about the Martin-Incognito affair.Carolina Panther offensive lineman Jonathan Martin, who became a household name when he left the Miami Dolphins because teammate Richie Incognito bullied him, is retiring. Martin announced Monday that it's not bullying this time that's taking him off the field, it's a recent back injury which would have required season-ending surgery. Fair or not, Martin's short NFL career won't be remembered for the 32 starts he made from … [Read more...]
