I hope the situation unfolding across the street from you whatever the circumstance has a peaceful outcome with no harm to either the police involved or the suspects.
Not to imply anything negative about Towanda but like all small towns it is a microcosm of the country. Despite our preconceptions that there is less likelihood of experiencing crime and random violence in small towns there is unfortunately no immunity at least in today’s world from crime , drugs, or social problems in rural areas although we’d all like to think so and our experience does “feel” safer particularly in our memories.
Here is a link to an interesting report on crime in Towanda from 2002 -2018 with more detail from 2006-2018 demonstrating that Towanda when adjusted for population has a crime rate similar to the national average. I have no information about the source of the data. Obviously an “average” includes areas with higher and lower crime rates and does not tell the whole story.
Stay safe and let us know how the rest of the story.
