My Firefox browser has seized up because a website selling Anti-Aging Cream grabbed hold and won’t let go. Interestingly, McAfee’s Online Security Expert, Robert Siciliano, just shared  which superheroes are kryptonite on the web and result in bad links. These superheroes flip to villainous creatures because their sites are laden with viruses, malware, and malicious software designed to steal passwords and personal information.McAfee, of course, knows about such things and researches these issues constantly.

The top 15 villainous superheroes for online surfers this year are:

  1. Aquaman: 18.6%*
  2. Mr. Fantastic: 18.2%
  3. The Hulk: 17.3%
  4. Wonder Woman: 16.8%
  5. Daredevil: 16.7%
  6. Iron Man: 15.6%
  7. Superman: 15.2%
  8. Thor: 15.1%
  9. Green Lantern: 15.0%
  10. Cyclops: 14.4%
  11. Wolverine: 14.3%
  12. Invisible Woman: 12.4%
  13. Batman: 12.3%
  14. Captain America: 11.8%
  15. Spider-Man: 11.2%

*% indicates chance of landing on a website that has tested positive for online threats such as spyware, adware, spam, phishing, viruses or other malware.

Siciliano asserts that criminals follow the news and trends to take advantage of “unprotected” users.
